Welsh Mezzo Soprano Rachel Morás was born and raised in Port Talbot. A graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, she was funded in her studies by the Laura Ashley Foundation and won several awards including the Pendyrus Male Voice Choir Soloist Award. Rachel was awarded a scholarship to further her studies in Italy and has had much success in competition, highlights include twice consecutively being the winner of the Mezzo Soprano Solo Competition at the National Eisteddfod of Wales.
Her operatic roles include Carmen Carmen, Sorceress Dido and Aeneas, Black Cat|Squirrel L’enfant et les sortilèges, Maddalena Rigoletto, Fox The Adventures of Pinocchio, Tisbe Cenerentola, Second Lady The Magic Flute, Witch Hansel and Gretel, Bertarido Rodelinda, Pauline The Queen of Spades, Nancy Martha, Bradamante Alcina, Olga Eugene Onegin, Nicklausse Les contes d’Hoffmann, Isabella L’Italiana in Algeri, Annio La clemenza di Tito, Lola Cavalleria rusticana and Giulio Cesare Giulio Cesare in Egitto.

Rachel is passionate about introducing opera to new audiences and has worked extensively in school opera projects introducing opera to children in Welsh and English medium schools and nurseries. Using opera arias and duets to take the children on an educational adventure through 500 years of opera and creating an interactive story inspired by opera plots, to give the children an understanding of opera and music throughout the ages. Rachel can be heard singing the roles of the Black Cat and the Squirrel in Ravel L’enfant et les sortilèges which is being used in a creative outreach music programme in primary and special educational needs schools in and around Birmingham.

An accomplished recitalist Rachel has performed recitals across Britain, Italy and France and is a regular on the concert platform, highlights include Bach St John’s Passion, Haydn Harmonie Messe, Vivaldi Gloria, Mendelssohn Elijah, Handel Messiah, Rossini Stabat Mater and Petite Messe Solennelle. Rachel was excited to join the chorus at Grange Park Opera taking part in their online Quarantines Chorus.
